John Dillinger

Famous bank robber who won media headlines with a short career of robberies and escapes from September 1933 to July 1934. Dillinger was born in Indianapolis but spent his adolescence on a farm in Mooresville.

Amos Rusie

More Info

The originator of the big league "Fast Ball". Mooresville was the bithplace and boyhood home of Rusie. After being signed into the National League in 1888 he was farmed to Burlington, Iowa for two weeks and then sent to the New York Giants. Rusie struck out 345 batters in the single season of 1890. Rusie finished out his career with the Cincinnati Reds. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1977.

Paul Hadley

More Info

Regarded as one of the best watercolor artists in the midwest, Hadley designed the Indiana state flag by winning a contest in 1916. He won first through fourth places. His six entries were among more than 200.
