Year-round recreational activity can be found
at the City Park. The 90-acre park, within the city limits, was
donated by the Nutter family in 1945. The Christmas Light
Display, Halloween Haunted Trail, and Fourth of July
celebration are examples of the pride and community spirit
of Martinsville citizens. The park was named for Jimmy Nash,
(1914-1988) a civic-minded community leader who was the
director of fireworks for many years.
Some of the other recreational facilities in
the vicinity are the Barbara B. Jordan YMCA, the
Martinsville Country Club, Morgan-Monroe State Forest, and the Monroe Reservoir.
