The first school was built in the 1850s directly west of the present school and was frame. In 1883, a brick building was built across the road from the present school. This building burned in 1917. In 1918, it was replaced by a new brick school which held classes for 80-100 students in grades 1-8. This school also burned in 1951 and students were bused to Brooklyn. The present Centerton Elementary School was completed in 1956 after the site was acquired from J.H. Wooden. The Centerton school is a part of the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville.
