In 1854 one-half acre of land was purchased for construction of a school.  Sometime between 1870 and 1880 the Wilbur School structure was built. In 1942 the school was closed. It was then sold to Grafton Kivetts in 1950 for $40.00. Mr. Kivetts donated to former school to the village and it became the community center.The Wilbur Community Center was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1993.

 

 

     Education in the area is under the administration of the Monroe/Gregg School District. Students kindergarten through fifth grade attend Hall Elementary School. Older students attend Monrovia Junior and Senior High Schools.


     The nearest church is the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.  The site for the church was donated by Tobias Ferguson. It was built in 1849.

 


      The Wilbur Corner Shop and Country Video and The Wilbur Cafe and Pizza, are the local gathering places as well as local businesses.
