The Mannan (Billtown) School appears to have been on the northeast corner of State Road 42 and 1375 West. The one-room brick building was erected by William C. Mannan, who lived just east of the school on the south side of State Road 42. It was also known as Ashland Public School No. 7, dates back to at least 1883, and served grades one through eight. Records of teachers show there were no classes in the winter of 1920-21. Mildred Dorsett is documented as having taught in 1921-22, after which students were taken by wagon to Jack Oak School south of Minetree. The Mannan School burned down around 1924.

Two years of high school were taught in Lewisville until about 1915. Ashland Township consolidated with Eminence in 1949. Eminence Consolidated School (shown at right) now serves Ashland Township and has approximately 460 students in grades K-12.
