The Mount Pleasant Church was organized in the 1830s. The first home of the congregation was a log church built in 1841. When fire destroyed the structure in 1853, land was donated by Jefferson Woodsmall and a new building was constructed in the same year. In 1933, the current sanctuary was built after the old church was moved and sold as a private residence.
