The Master of Science degree in Historic Preservation
offers students from varied undergraduate backgrounds a solid academic
foundation and the preparation necessary to undertake professional careers
in historic preservation. The program is housed within the Department of
Architecture but operates in close cooperation with the departments of
Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning and draws from resources
throughout the university. The intent of the program is to prepare
professionals qualified to deal with the complex problems which arise in
rejuvenating the historic cores of our cities, in maintaining a sense of
identity in small communities, in revitalizing neighborhoods, in restoring
historic sites, and in rural preservation.
