Click “Start”.
Click “Run”.
Delete everything out of the “Open:” box.
Type “inetwiz” (Without the quotation marks.) into the box next to “Open:”.
Click “OK”.
A Internet Connection Wizard window will open, put a dot next to “Connect using my phone line”.
Click “Next >”.
Put a dot next to “Create a new dial-up connection”.
Click “Next >”.
Type your local access number into the box labeled “Telephone number:”. Your local access number is 349-5840.
Remove the check from “Dial using the area code and country code”.
Click “Next >”.
Type your SCICAN E-Mail address into the box labeled “User name:”. (ie, username@scican.net)
Type your password into the box labeled “Password”.
Click “Next >”.
Type “SCICAN” into the box labeled “Connection name:”.
Click “Next >”.
At this point your computer may ask you if you want to setup email or it will go to a “Complete Configuration” Screen. If your see the “Complete Configuration” screen click “Finish”, open Outlook Express and move on to the next section Configuring Outlook Express. If your computer asks if you would like to configure email, tell it yes and move onto the next section, Configuring Outlook Express.
If your Internet Connection Wizard did not ask to configure email or you are just using this section to configure Outlook Express please start with step ONE of this section. If you are picking up from the previous section start with step FIVE of this section.
Click on the “Tools” menu.
Click on “Accounts”.
Click on “Add”.
Click on “Mail”.
Type your name into the “Display Name” box.
Click “Next >”.
Put a dot next to “I already have an email address that I would like to use”.
Type your SCICAN email address into the “E-Mail Address” box. (ie, username@scican.net)
Click “Next >”.
Type “mail.scican.net” (Without Quotes) into the box labeled “Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server”.
Type “mail.scican.net” (Without Quotes) into the box labeled “Outgoing mail (SMTP) server”.
Click “Next >”.
Make sure that the username in the “Account Name” box matches your username.
Type your password into the “Password” box.
Make sure that “Remember Password” is checked.
Click “Next >”.
Click “Finish”.
