
The Genealogy Section at the Morgan County Public Library, 110 S. Jefferson St, Martinsville, [telephone: 317-342-3451] houses a genealogical/historical collection. MCHAGA members provide assistance on a voluntary, part-time basis.
The Morgan County Public Library, Genealogy Section collection consists of books, periodicals, and microfilm. It includes census schedules, local newspapers, family histories, vital records, research reference aids, and much more. The area of emphasis is Morgan County and the counties adjacent to Morgan [Brown, Hendricks, Johnson, Monroe, Owen, and Putnam] and the major migration areas from where its people and their ancestors came.
One of the most recent additions to the genealogy/history collection at the Morgan County Public Library is GenAssist-The Genealogy Assistant. All of the data base is not yet available on the WWW. However, some of it is now, and all of it will be later. The amount of data that is now available for research is tremendous and will grow as time allows.
The Morgan County Public Library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The Genealogy Section is open the same hours as the library.
Indiana Room of the Mooresville Public Library has a collection of genealogical/historical data. The collection includes, but is not necessarily limited to, books, periodicals, microfilm, various census records, local newspapers, family histories, and much more.

The Mooresville Public Library is open from 9:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. Friday; 9:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m., Saturday. The Indiana Room is open the same hours.
Take the time to visit both libraries. They are excellent facilities and the collections of material are the best you'll find concerning Morgan County.
