| Oh! What a grand time it was on October
12-13, 1922, when the county turned out on the courthouse square to celebrate
its 100th anniversary. The sun shone brightly, "the air had a little
of the late fall tinge," and the square was regally decorated with flags
and pennants of red and gold, the Centennial colors. Two full days
of activities dramatized the history of Morgan County and kept adults and
schoolchildren, who had been dismissed from school for the celebration,
educationally entertained. |

The fairgrounds were 20 years old
in 1969, when the 1968 Morgan County Fair Queen, Jane Pruitt, took a break
from her duties to survey the midway from the top of the ferris wheel. |

During the economic upswing following the Depression
and World War II, weddings became formal affairs generally staged in churches
specially decorated for the occasion and followed by a carefully planned
reception. Such was the candlelight wedding of Sharon Platt and Seven
Kain, held in the Methodist Church on August 29, 1959. |
